Historians agree that the first brewers lived in Mesopotamia, in what is now Iraq, home to the Sumerian civilization. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">These ancient peoples not only invented beer but also left the first written records of it. Sumerian cuneiform tablets contain beer recipes and reflect its importance in religious and social rituals.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">However, their beer was very different from what we know today.
