The process begins in the brewhouse, where grain is mashed and combined with hops to create the wort, the base of every beer. This flavour-rich liquid is boiled carefully to balance bitterness, aroma and taste, preparing it for the magic to come.
Explore the brewing process
01 Water Water from Andorra. Filtered, with its pH adjusted before we start.
02 Malt Milled malt goes into the mash tun and meets the hot water.
03 Mashing Heat turns the starch in the grain into sugar.
04 Lautering The mash moves to the lauter tun and the clear wort is drawn off.
05 Spent grain The used grain leaves through the hatch.
06 Boil The wort boils. At 975 m, water boils at 96.8 °C, not 100.
07 Hops Added at the end of the boil: this is where bitterness and aroma come from.
08 Cooling The heat exchanger drops the temperature and fills the seven tanks.
09 Yeast Each tank gets its yeast and is closed.
10 Fermentation 21 days. Sugar becomes alcohol and CO₂, and the foam rises and falls.
11 Packaging Seven beers in 33 cl bottles, in cases of 24. Or in 30 and 20 L kegs.
12 La Fabrica Straight to our restaurant, La Fabrica: the only place in Andorra where beer is served straight from the fermentation tank – there isn't one even in Catalonia.
Brewing is the art of turning simple ingredients into an exceptional beer. From mashing the grain and boiling it with hops to create the wort, through the fermentation where the flavours develop, to packaging the finished product, every step is taken with care. At our brewery, every beer tells a story worth sharing.

Craft and industrial are not the same drink
The technology is similar. The scale and the pace are not.
| Feature | Craft | Industrial |
|---|---|---|
| Fermentation | 2–4 weeks | accelerated and warm |
| Fermentables | barley malt | rice, corn, glucose syrup |
| Hops | whole cones or pellets | extract |
| Pasteurisation | often none | around 60 °C |
| Tank to glass | weeks | months on a shelf |
That is why the base of our beers fits on one line: water from Andorra, barley malt, hops, yeast and CO₂.
Beer is mostly water
Between 90 and 95% of every glass is water, and it is the one ingredient you cannot pick from a catalogue: it comes from where you are. High-mountain snow and rain filter through granite, a rock that gives up almost no minerals, so the water arrives naturally soft and low in dissolved solids. Soft water is a blank canvas: you can add minerals for a style, but you cannot remove what was never there.
And here it boils at a lower temperature. At 975 m, water boils at 96.8 °C, and a gentler boil changes how the hops come through: the recipe is adapted to the altitude.

The wort is cooled and yeast is added, starting a natural process in which sugars turn into alcohol and carbon dioxide. Over days or weeks, the beer develops its distinctive flavours, aromas and character, reflecting the brewer's craft and creativity.
Once fermentation is complete, the beer is clarified, carbonated and refined. It is then carefully packaged into kegs or bottles, preserving its quality and freshness. The final detail is a beautifully designed label telling the beer's story, ready to be enjoyed and shared.
At Estrella Andorra, we believe beer is more than a drink; it is an experience to enjoy and share. From our brewery in the heart of Andorra, we offer a wide variety of beers for every taste.
Seven beers in all: the clean Lager, the hazy and fruity Blat, the tropical Fruity IPA, the balanced Amber Ale, the bitter IPA de muntanya, the dark-malt Torrada and the chocolate-and-coffee Stout.
Every beer is brewed with care, from the best ingredients, and inspired by the Pyrenees. With Estrella Andorra, beer is better when it is shared.
